What is Oopbuy, and how to judge it on storage

Oopbuy buys from Chinese shops on your behalf, holds the items in Xiamen and ships them in one parcel. Here is who runs it, what is the same at every agent, what is different at Oopbuy, and the questions about storage worth asking any agent before you commit.

Oopbuy · basics

What is Oopbuy?

Oopbuy is a shopping agent: it buys items for you from Taobao, 1688 and Weidian, receives them at its warehouse in Xiamen, photographs and stores them, and ships them abroad when you ask. Links from other shops can go through its DIY order form, and it also runs its own Mall. The Terms of Service describe it as an entrusted purchasing and logistics platform, not a seller.

The operator named on Oopbuy's Contact Us page is Openbuy Technology HK Limited, company number 77213008. Two registered addresses appear on different Oopbuy pages, one in Causeway Bay and one in Tuen Mun, both in Hong Kong. We list both because Oopbuy does.

How Oopbuy describes itself

Oopbuy's article What is OOPBUY purchasing agent? explains the service as buying goods you cannot get abroad, or that cost more abroad, and gives reasons to use it: random purchase of goods in mainland China, payment in pounds, dollars, euros and other currencies, receiving goods “within 7 working days at the earliest”, and free return and exchange.

Read those as claims, not measurements. “At the earliest” describes the best case, and the return promise has the five-day window and exclusion list described on our buying page.

Why Oopbuy, and when to use a different agent

Start with what every agent shares: they buy for you, hold items in a warehouse, charge you twice and give you a free storage period that ends. What is specific to Oopbuy is an agent service fee of zero on its fee page, 90 free days from received, an estimator that prints prices in CNY and USD with a fixed conversion, and, for this site's purposes, four published statements about what happens after day 90.

So be honest about the fit. If your plan depends on keeping goods for months, or you want one clearly written paid storage rule on one page, another agent's terms may suit you better. If you ship inside 90 days, Oopbuy's conflicting extension rules never touch you.

Oopbuy · three ways in

Three ways to buy, one warehouse clock

Oopbuy takes orders three ways. The shopping agent service handles Taobao, 1688 and Weidian links pasted into the search bar. DIY orders cover links from other shops, entered by hand. And Oopbuy's own Mall, branded SelfShop and Foundry Select, sells items directly. All three end up in the same Xiamen warehouse.

None of the storage pages sets a different clock for Mall or DIY items, so we treat everything as 90 days from received. If you mix sources in one parcel, the oldest item still sets the deadline, whichever door it came through.

Any agent · storage questions

How to choose a trustworthy agent, judged on storage

Storage terms are a good test of any agent because they are dull, specific and easy to check. Ask five things. From which status does free storage start? Is its length the same on every page? What does an extension cost, per what unit, how many times? What happens to unshipped goods, and will you be told? Is the operator a named company you can look up?

Oopbuy answers the first and last clearly, the fourth partly (disposal is described, notification is ruled out for destroyed goods), and the second and third in conflicting ways. That does not make it untrustworthy. It makes it an agent whose storage you plan conservatively.

Agents besides Oopbuy that come up in the same threads

In spreadsheet communities Oopbuy sits next to agents such as Kakobuy, Superbuy, Sugargoo and CSSBuy. Each publishes its own storage page, and the free periods differ. What differs more is the part after the free period, which is exactly where Oopbuy's pages disagree with each other.

We do not print other agents' numbers here. They change, and a stale figure would mislead. If you compare, read each agent's own storage page on the same day and use the five questions above.
